100% Precision Score on Challenge 25 Standard Earns “Highly Effective Compliance” Classification
San Francisco – March 25, 2025 – Paravision, a leader in trusted Identity AI, has achieved a Level 3 certification from the Age Check Certification Scheme (ACCS) for its Age Estimation technology. The rigorous evaluation validates Paravision Age Estimation as a highly accurate and reliable solution for age-restricted services, with Paravision’s results making it one of only six companies globally to receive ACCS’s highest-level designation.
The Importance of ACCS and Age Estimation
Age verification is essential in sectors where access to age-restricted goods and services must be carefully controlled. With the rapid rise of digital commerce, AI-driven age estimation provides an effective, scalable solution to complement traditional ID checks for businesses working to ensure that they do not sell alcohol, tobacco, lottery tickets, online gaming, and other products and services to underage individuals.
ACCS is the leading independent certification body for age estimation technologies. Their rigorous testing evaluates age estimation systems against strict performance, fairness, and compliance standards. One of the most critical tests is the Challenge 25 standard, which evaluates whether an age estimation system can correctly identify individuals who should be asked for ID verification before purchasing age-restricted products.
Paravision Age Estimation Performance
Paravision Age Estimation was tested using a diverse dataset of 318 participants, aged 17 to 20, ensuring representation across different demographic groups. The evaluation included key performance metrics such as Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Standard Deviation (SD), Failure to Acquire Rate (FTA), Precision, and Demographic Accuracy. Test images were captured under varied real-world conditions, ensuring robustness and reliability.
Paravision’s system performed at the Highest Compliance Level for Level 3 Age Estimation. Highlights from the metrics include:
- 100% precision in Challenge 25 compliance, with 0% of subjects falsely identified as over 25 years old.
- 0% Failure to Acquire Rate, meaning that every image submitted for analysis returned a result.
- Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of 1.37 years, showcasing high accuracy in age estimation.
- Standard Deviation of 1.17, demonstrating high reliability of the system.
The exceptional performance of Paravision’s Age Estimation system validates that businesses can implement an AI-driven age verification solution that is highly accurate and usable in digital age assurance use cases. The full ACCS report on Paravision Age Estimation can be provided by Paravision to interested parties upon request.
Receiving this certification from ACCS is a milestone that validates our commitment to accuracy, reliability, and compliance in age estimation. As digital transactions continue to expand, our technology provides businesses with a seamless way to verify age while maintaining the highest levels of security and compliance.
Joey Pritikin, Chief Product Officer at Paravision
The new certification for Paravision Age Estimation builds on the company’s recent success in industry tests and reports. In January, Paravision Face Recognition achieved leading rankings in NIST FRTE 1:N test. Earlier in March, Paravision Liveness demonstrated the lowest combined error rate and processing time in the DHS Remote Identity Validation Test. And last week, Paravision announced its recognition as a Liveness Pioneer in the 2025 Face Liveness Market report, highlighting its ability to detect next-generation fraud with Paravision Deepfake Detection.
Paravision Age Estimation is available in SDK or Docker container format, and can be deployed as a standalone capability or as a simple software and API update for partners already using Paravision Dockers. The technology requires only a single face image such as a smartphone selfie to determine age estimates, making it easy to deploy across a range of applications. Aligned with Paravision’s standard approach in support of privacy and security protections, Paravision Age Estimation is not available directly as a SaaS but is integrated and deployed as a part of Paravision partners’ products, solutions, and services.
