Paravision Research – Privacy Notice
Paravision® (“Paravision”, “we”, “us” or “our”) is committed to protecting and respecting your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains how we collect, use and share information that could be used to identify an individual (“Personal Data”) in the context of the Paravision Research mobile app. The goal of this Privacy Notice is to be as clear as possible, but if you have any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected].
Personal Data We Collect
The Personal Data we collect, and the purposes for collecting are as follows:
- Your full name, email address, and other contact information;
- Certain demographic information, including your race(s), gender, age, country(ies) of ancestry, and country of residence;
- Your preferred language;
- Photographs and/or videos of you;
- Your age at the time any historical photos and/or videos of you were taken;
- Device information, including your device ID, the make, model and operating system of your device, your device IP address, your device location by country, and session information, including number of sessions and session duration.
We also create a uuid (universally unique identifier) in connection with creating your profile for Account Management, Internal Analytics and Legal purposes as further described in the Section “Purposes for Processing Your Personal Data” below.
How We Collect Personal Data
We collect Personal Data:
- Through your use and interaction with the mobile app;
- Through third parties who are contractually obligated to obtain your consent for any Personal Data they provide us.
If you disclose any Personal Data relating to other people to us or to our service providers, you represent that you have the authority to do so and to permit us to use the information in accordance with this Privacy Notice.
Purposes for Processing Personal Data
We process your Personal Data for various purposes.
Account Management Purposes – We will process your Personal Data to help manage your account with us, and tailor your experience with your use of the mobile app. This purpose also includes account authentication and account verification.
Internal Analytics – We will process your Personal Data to: improve your experience with our mobile application; improve accuracy of our products; and reduce algorithmic bias. This purpose also includes user behavior analysis as you use the mobile app.
Marketing Purposes – If you elect to do so, we will process your Personal Data to invite you to participate in future data collection projects, and to help facilitate audience segmentation for future data collection projects.
Product Development Purposes – We will process your Personal Data to develop, enhance and improve our commercial products and services as further specified in the model release that you sign with us.
Legal Purposes – In some cases we may have a legal obligation to process the Personal Data or we may otherwise need the Personal Data for our legitimate business purposes, such as to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to requests from public and government authorities, to prevent fraud and ensure the security of our systems, to conduct internal investigations and audits, to enforce our terms and conditions, for dispute resolution purposes, and to facilitate mergers, acquisitions and other reorganizations and restructurings of our business (including prospective transactions).

We do not sell access to your Personal Data as part of a commercial product or service, whether as part of an aggregated identity or image database or otherwise.
We need to collect certain Personal Data in order to provide the mobile app to you or to be able to perform our contract with you. If you do not provide the information requested, we may not be able to provide the mobile app to you.
Sharing of Personal Data
We may share your Personal Data with our third party service providers, such as third party photographers, consultants, legal service providers, hosting service providers, software service providers, IT and related infrastructure providers, but only to assist us with our business operations. Where relevant, we will ensure that contractual safeguards are implemented with these third-party service providers.
We may share your Personal Data as required by law with public, regulatory and government authorities.
In case of a merger, acquisition and/or other reorganizations and restructurings of our business (including prospective transactions), we may share your Personal Data with, or transfer your Personal Data to, (potential) buyers, acquirers or business partners, as necessary to facilitate and/or effectuate such (potential) merger, acquisition and/or other reorganizations and restructurings.
Your Personal Data may be stored and processed in any country where we have facilities or in which we engage service providers, and you understand that your information will be transferred to countries outside of your country of residence, which may have data protection rules that are different from those of your country. In certain circumstances, courts, government authorities, regulatory agencies or security authorities in those other countries may be entitled to access your Personal Data.
How We Protect Your Personal Data
Paravision® has implemented reasonable technical security measures to help protect your Personal Data against loss and to safeguard your Personal Data against access by unauthorized persons. We consider the protection of sensitive information to be a sound business practice, and to that end we employ physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect your Personal Data. Unfortunately, no data transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. If you have reason to believe that your interaction with us is no longer secure, please immediately notify us in accordance with the “How to contact us” heading below.
Data Retention
Your Personal Data collected through the mobile app is stored locally on your device, and to the extent you use and interact with the mobile app, such Personal Data may be transmitted and stored in our secured systems. To the extent such Personal Data can be deleted by us from your device, it will be deleted when (i) such information is submitted by you to us, (ii) the application session ends, or (iii) the mobile app is deleted from your device. By default, closing the mobile app will not end an application session, but an application session will automatically expire within 14 days. Such Personal Data will be deleted from your mobile device within 24 hours of the application session ending.
Please note, however, certain Personal Data cannot be deleted by us from your device. For example, Personal Data that originates from your device, including device information and your photo albums, are not deleted by us.
We retain Personal Data we collect from you where we have an ongoing legitimate business need or legal obligation to do so (for example, to provide you with a service you have requested or to comply with applicable legal, tax or accounting requirements).

In your request, please make clear what Personal Data you would like to have changed. For your protection, we may only implement requests with respect to the Personal Data associated with the particular email address that you use to send us your request, and we may need to verify your identity before implementing your request. We will try to comply with your request as soon as reasonably practicable.
Privacy of Minors
Note: You must be 18 years old or older to use the mobile app. We do not knowingly collect information from individuals under the age of 18.
Third Party Services
We are not responsible for the information collection, use, disclosure, or security policies or practices of other organizations, such as Facebook, Apple, Google, Microsoft, or any other app developer, app provider, social media platform provider, operating system provider, wireless service provider, or device manufacturer, including with respect to any Personal Data you disclose directly to other third parties.
Updates to this Privacy Notice
We may amend this Privacy Notice from time to time to reflect changes in our practices with respect to the processing of Personal Data or changes in applicable law. If we make any changes, we will post these on this page and change the “Last Updated” date above. If we make material changes to this Privacy Notice, we will notify you directly, or by way of example, posting a notification or message in our mobile app.
